Crimes Nearby: DWI and Drug Arrests On the Twin Forks
The following information was supplied by police departments on the East End. A criminal charge is only an accusation and does not indicate guilt.
• Tasheria Horsley, of Wading River, was arrested on Dec. 14 and charged with two counts of first-degree robbery, both felonies, after an investigation revealed her involvement as an accomplice in a robbery of a Shirley taxi driver in Nov. 3, according to an arrest report. The 16-year-old is being charged as an adult, police confirmed. Horsley was processed and arraigned at the Riverhead Justice Court. She was released on her own recognizance and issued a later court date, police said.
• A 48-year-old Noyac woman backed into a police officer’s car Dec. 14 after she tried to avoid questions about a loose dog on her property, according to police. Officers knocked on the door of Maria Eftimiades’ Sylvan Lane house at around 7 p.m. Dec. 14 to work on an investigation about a loose dog. The 48-year-old woman left her house through another door, got into her car and tried to back down the driveway, even though officers signaled at her to stop. Eftimiades backed into one of the police officer’s patrol cars, according to the arrest report. She was arrested at her home on Sylvan Lane and charged with second-degree menacing, a misdemeanor, and unsafe backing and failure to comply, both violations.
• A 48-year-old Southampton man told police that between Dec. 12 and Dec. 15 someone broke the lock off of the shed on his Magee Street property and stole $5,000 worth of power tools and car tires, according to an incident report. The man left for vacation in Mexico Dec. 3, had someone check the lock on the shed Dec. 12, and then discovered it broken when he returned to his home Dec. 15, according to police.
• A 48-year-old Water Mill man who owns a landscaping company police that on Dec. 13 at around midnight someone went into his building on Head of Pond Road and stole two backpack leaf blowers, together worth $200. The man told police he saw the hasp ripped off the building’s southeast door, according to an incident report. Officers will review the man’s surveillance cameras.
• A 61-year-old man from Sag Harbor told police that sometime between Nov. 9 and Dec. 13 someone went into his Crescent Street home and stole three boxes containing personal documents, including his passport, a mortgage deed, bank statements and investment statements. Police are investigating.
• Yimmy Alcivar, 31, of Southampton, was arrested Dec. 18 at 1 a.m. and charged with second-degree burglary, a felony, and third-degree menacing, a misdemeanor.
• Yamit A. Hurtado, 32, of East Hampton, was held on $5,000 bail at the Suffolk County jail in Riverside after he was arraigned on three counts misdemeanors -- two criminal mischief charges and one for allegedly resisting arrest on Dec. 11. Police said they responded to a call after Hurtado reportedly took a wrench to his brother's car and house windows in Springs at about 1:45 a.m. The damage totaled about $800. When police tried to handcuff him, a struggle ensued. At headquarters, police said they weren't able to interview him due to "his combative nature." They noted in his arrest report that they had to "put a tighter restraint on his person due to the fact that he was attempting to damage the camera." He also allegedly put his socks in the toilet and kept flushing, overflowing the toilet. He eventually calmed down, police said.
• James P. Fenelon II, 29, of East Hampton, was arrested after he allegedly stole candy and a 5 Hour Energy drink from Hess gas station's convenience store in Wainscott on Dec. 8 at about 11:45 p.m. Fenelon allegedly swiped a Reese's candy bar, two Snickers bars, and four rolls of Lifesavers, in addition to the drink, without paying. Police found the items, as well as a small amount of marijauana, in his pockets. He was released on his own recognizance and will be arraigned on misdemeanor petty larceny and a violation for the alleged marijuana possession
on Jan. 12.
• Justin M. Damark, 20, of Eat Hampton, was arrested on a drug possession charge after being pulled over for speeding at 70 mph in a 35 mph zone in Springs on Friday at 8:15 p.m.. Police said they smelled marijuana coming from the car and during a search found a small plastic Ziplock bag with half a Hydrocodone pill. They also allegedly found 10 Oxycodone pills in his pocket. Charged with seventh-degree possession of a controlled substance, which is a misdemeanor, he was released on an appearance ticket.
• An 18-year-old East Hampton man was arrested on a driving while intoxicated after he hit a tree in Springs on Dec. 13. Police were called to Three Mile Harbor Road, near Gardiner Avenue, at about 8:40 p.m. and found a red Dodge Ram pick-up truck n the woods, against a tree, but no driver to be found. Using the vehicle's registration, officers tracked down the driver and he was arrested at about 11:20 p.m. Bail information was not available. Police withheld the defendant's name due to possible youthful offender status in court.
• Christopher Giardiello, 22, and Jennifer Cassano, 18, both of Manorville, were charged with drug offenses on Dec. 9 at 12:44 p.m. in Mattituck after Southold Town Police stopped Giardiello for a traffic violation as he drove a 2008 Ford Mustang westbound on Sound Avenue in Mattituck, police said.
During the stop, police determined that Giardiello was driving with a suspended license. They noticed an odor of marijuana in the vehicle, police said. After a search of the vehicle, police found two small bags of marijuana and Xanax pills hidden inside the car, police said.
Giardiello was charged with second-degree aggravated unlicensed operation, seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance and unlawful possession of marijuana. Cassano was charged with unlawful possession of marijuana.
• Eleanor Roper, 56, of Cutchogue, was charged with driving while intoxicated on Dec. 14 at 9:37 a.m. after police stopped her for a traffic violation on Mill Lane in Mattituck, police said. Roper was found to be intoxicated, arrested and transported to headquarters where she was held pending arraignment.
